On September 24–25, 2026, 28 high school students from across the region came together for the Four Corners Student EdTech & AI Summit. Different schools, different dreams, one room. Two days of hands-on workshops in coding, AI and design ended with a look inside a real innovation lab. The recap film above tells the story in photos, numbers and the students' own words.
Highlights
28 students, 7 sessions, 2 days. Vibe coding, Micro:bit programming, AI prompt engineering, design thinking, a Real or Fake deepfake showdown, device security strategies, and a tour of the NewSpace Nexus facility.
Code you can hold. With Micro:bit and MakeCode, a few blocks of code turned into lights, sound and motion.
Inside a real innovation lab. At NewSpace Nexus, a rover on the table and a 3D-printed car had students talking all day.
They built it, then they pitched it. Design-thinking prototypes became posters, and a gallery walk turned classmates into an audience.
What students told us
After the summit, all 28 students answered a 12-question reflection survey.
Hands-on wins. 79% agreed or strongly agreed that Micro:bit, MakeCode and vibe coding helped them see how code solves real problems.
Building a prototype was the most valuable activity for 39% of students, followed by the NewSpace Nexus tour (21%), the gallery walk and pitch (18%), device strategies (11%) and the Real or Fake showdown (11%).
64% plan to keep learning tech, coding or AI. Only 39% can picture a tech career yet. That's the next frontier.
Average rating out of 5:
Hands-on activities: 4.14
Device strategies: 3.96
AI prompt design: 3.96
Design thinking: 3.89
Spotting AI content: 3.86

What students actually said:
"How advanced AI is, and how aware you have to be of it."
"I'm glad to be here. Wish I could stay longer, but I will remember this trip!"
"Fantastic!!!"

Where we go from here
The students' feedback is shaping what comes next:
Winter 2026: a career pathways module with spotlights and a tech careers panel
Winter 2026: movement breaks every 45 to 60 minutes
Spring 2027: an expanded NewSpace Nexus tour with Q&A from engineers
2027–28: mentorship and project pathways after the summit
Thank you to every partner, speaker, volunteer and school that made the summit possible.
