Every school that runs rapid health tests on site needs to be covered by a CLIA Certificate of Waiver. New Mexico schools can join REC1's certificate instead of applying on their own. We pay the fee and handle the paperwork.

Six Steps, Two Forms

Sign and return the MOU.

Submit the School Info Form for each testing site.

We ask the state CLIA office to add your site to our certificate.

We send a letter confirming your associated-site status and waiver number. Post it at the testing site.

We send you a copy of our certificate. Print it and post it beside the letter.

We schedule a virtual site visit at a time that suits you and report back what we find. Visits repeat about every 90 days.

Ask Us the Most
Do I have to submit my own application?
No. Your school is added to REC1’s certificate as an associated site, so you don’t file an application of your own.
Is there a fee?
No. REC1 pays the certificate fee, not your school.
How long does it last?
Two years at a time. A Certificate of Waiver is good for two years, and REC1 renews ours. You don’t need to do anything to renew it.
Do I need to find my own testing support?
No. We contact your regional School Health Advocate on your behalf for help with testing protocols.
Will there be site visits?
Yes, virtual ones. We schedule them at a time that suits you. Visits happen about every 90 days.
Can we add other tests later?
Ask us. Right now the certificate covers Covid-19, influenza A and B, and pregnancy tests. If you’d like to run another waived test, tell us and we’ll look at adding it.
Can we sign up later in the year?
Yes. Get in touch whenever you’re ready.
Can we leave the program?
Yes. Either your school or REC1 can end the agreement with 30 days’ notice.
