PRESENTERS

 

Sandra Houston 
 

Sandra has served as a successful educator for 20 years plus working as a curriculum and instruction/Federal Programs Director, a consultant and teacher trainer under Governor Martinez’s Reads to Lead program through New Mexico REC 2. Sandra was on the initial team of Three Rivers Education Foundation’s project Building Communities that Support Children’s Literacy. During her career, she has networked with a significant range of New Mexico Public Education Leaders, working on Governor Lujan Grishham’s coalition with Four Corners Regional Education Cooperative #1, the New Mexico Early Childhood Education & Care Department, and the NM RECA Child Care Initiative to assist families in finding available Child care services and resources. Sandra is currently working for Three Rivers Education Foundation’s Southwest Teacher Quality Partnership as a recruiter and coach for graduate students pursuing an MAE and teacher certification in Special Education, High School Math or High School Science

Lisa Perez – Pediatric Occupational Therapist

Kristen has worked in EC for over 15 years. She is a co-facilitator of the San Juan Early Childhood Coalition and an SEL practitioner. She is passionate about supporting communities in developing strong SEL practices and systems.

Victoria has been in EC for over 10 years. Through her work at Explora, Ms. Roanhorse provides quality informal STEAM programs to schools and communities. She believes in building community assets and views communities through a strength based approach.

Lisa currently works in Early Intervention supporting children and families in San Juan County and Luna County. She is part of a multidisciplinary evaluation team and provides occupational therapy services to children birth-three years of age.

Jennifer Salinas – Professional Development and Policy Advisor

Kathy is a lifelong New Mexican and spent decades in our public schools. She recently circled back to Early Childhood. She and her husband live in Farmington and she enjoys being a grandmother and training and running barrel racing horses.

Laura Kim worked in Early Intervention as a Development Specialist for several years working with children birth to 3 years old.  During this time she also created library programs for children under 3 and their families.  She was also a Special Education classroom teacher for K-6 Grade. She now works as a Lead Instructor for Teacher Education. 

Jennifer Salinas holds a BA in Psychology and an MS degree in Early Childhood Education. She has 15+ years of experience including 8 years as a Lead Teacher and 7 years as a director of a NAEYC Accredited, Dual Language, Reggio-Emilia inspired center. Now, she specializes in facilitating ECE workshops throughout the state.
