Job Title: Business Manager (Part-Time)
Reports To: Executive Director
Status: Part-Time (approx. 16–24 hours/week)
Position Summary:
The Business Manager will be responsible for the comprehensive financial management, oversight, and reporting for the Four Corners Regional Education Cooperative #1. This role is critical in ensuring the organization maintains fiscal transparency, regulatory compliance, and operational stability. Working under a hybrid model, the Business Manager will utilize the Infinite Visions (iVisions) platform hosted by Bloomfield Municipal Schools to manage all accounting, payroll, and procurement functions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Financial Management & Accounting: Maintain the general ledger, perform monthly bank reconciliations, and manage all accounts payable and receivable. Ensure all financial activities align with New Mexico Public Education Department (PED) standards and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Budget Development & Oversight: Assist the Executive Director in the development of the annual operating budget. Monitor expenditures against budget allocations and provide regular financial status reports to the Council.
- Payroll & Benefits Administration: Process accurate and timely payroll for all REC staff. Manage employee benefits enrollment and reporting, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Procurement & Compliance: Oversee all procurement activities, ensuring adherence to the New Mexico Procurement Code. Manage contracts, vendor relationships, and purchase order processing.
- Audit Preparation: Serve as the primary point of contact for annual financial audits. Maintain “audit-ready” documentation and implement internal controls to safeguard organizational assets.
- Systems Coordination: Coordinate with the fiscal host (Bloomfield Municipal Schools) regarding iVisions platform access, technical troubleshooting, and data continuity.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in school business management or public sector accounting.
- Licensure: Must hold, or be eligible to obtain, a valid New Mexico School Business Official license.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Tyler Technologies Infinite Visions (iVisions) software is highly preferred. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Deep understanding of New Mexico Public Education Department (PED) financial reporting requirements.
- Ability to work independently in a part-time capacity while meeting strict monthly and quarterly deadlines.
- Strong analytical skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills for reporting financial data to the Executive Director and the Governing Council.
Working Conditions:
- This is a part-time position requiring approximately 2–3 days per week.
- The role involves a hybrid work environment, coordinating between the FCREC#1 office and technical skills with the hosting school district’s IT infrastructure.
